WELCOME TO THE SHELBY INN!

Located in Shelbyville, Illinois – a quaint community nestled near the intersection of Lake Shelbyville and the Kaskaskia River.

Enjoy a visit whether you’re taking advantage of the beautiful lake boasting 250 miles of untouched shoreline, looking for a romantic retreat, settling in for a business trip, attending a wedding/event, or hunting/fishing in the area.

You will find The Shelby Inn to be a unique experience. We hope the charm and convenience of this hotel community will make you wish to return often.

Located on the property you will find The Tallman House, currently being used as our registration facility.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it has been carefully restored to its 1904 Victorian grandeur, with future plans to utilize the 2nd and 3rd-floor space of the historic home as a short-term rental.

Room was very large, must larger than I had expected actually which was perfect. Balcony, Room, Sheets & Towels were all very clean. Bathroom has a large shower and mirror as well as coffee maker + there’s plenty of space to hang clothes & store them with the wardrobe and closet. Not far from the lake either, as well as shops & restaurants. All and all a very nice place to stay.

Shelby Inn is a clean, cozy, comfortable place to stay. We have been a guest at the Inn at least 2 or 3 times a year for the past 5 years or more. The staff is polite and helpful. We find that their check in and check out is a very convenient, easy feature.

We stayed at this location for the wedding of our nephew, and it was an amazing. The room was very nice and clean, and the staff was pleasant, and assisted with our request and also replyed quickly to any text we sent. They made it a point to stay in touch with us about any questions we had.We also had a chance to experience the event space the Inn offers and it was beautiful. This was such an amazing weekend. We will definitely be back! Also would mention what a nice clean town Shelbyville is! Very pretty! The Chataqua is so unique! So glad they preserved it! God bless you all.

We stayed here to be near the total eclipse without paying the prices in the zone of totality. What a delightful surprise! Executive double room was charming, clean and comfortable. Automated check-in was so easy. Very nice grounds. We will be back for a longer stay!

The new processes have been so slick. We were given our code to get in our room and everything was clean with new bedding from last time I stayed in this hotel. I spoke with the staff a bit while there and they all were super helpful and cheerful. Great little hotel close to everything in town! The historic home was a blast to walk around in and see while we were there too. The kids loved it.

Plenty of space in the room, hot showers, responsive temperature controls, and quiet nights for sleeping mean it checks all the boxes. The TVs in the rooms have some parental controls in place, which is a little unusual, but you can still access the full complement of usual channels and watch your favorite shows. The staff is very friendly and will do what they can to make sure you have a great stay.

Owner Ken is gracious and warm-hearted. The staff do an excellent job cleaning the rooms and leaving everything just right. We've been staying at Ken's over many years of family reunions in the local area and recommend you give the Shelby Inn a try - it's within walking distance of Druby's, the local place for ice cream and burgers, and so much more. The Shelby Inn also has a charming shaded place to sit outside when family members are meeting for morning coffee!

Had a family reunion, and everyone enjoyed their stay at Shelby Inn. Sure, it's nothing fancy. It's a town of 5,000, and we're lucky to have them. They're clean rooms and reasonably priced.

Very nice place to stay and close to everything. The office hours are 7am to 9pm and if you can't be there then they have a special way to make sure you get your keys to your room. I don't want to put it on here so I don't spoil the surprise. The house has an unusual story that goes with the reason why it's on the national historic landmark registry. The people that run this motel are very friendly and very accommodating. I will stay here Everytime I go to Shelbyville.
